Bigfoot Lodge Thanksgiving

This thanksgiving as well as last, we went to Bigfoot Lodge. It was fun. I also stopped by Andy and George's, where I spent last Thanksgiving. Before going out, I cooked a turkey, deviled eggs, carrot salad, mashed potatoes/gravy, and stuffing. I've never made a turkey but I was pretty happy with it. I put herbs and spices under the skin. It looked weird but was tasty. Joe, Racheal and I enjoyed it while watching True Stories. David Bryne is great but weird.

Here is the back of the flier.

Tonight I made my show flier and sent it off to be printed and also re-organized 2005's photos and made the piece again because I wasn't happy with the ordering in the one at the DMC. (and I'd found a few photos to add). I watched XMen 3 while my computer is busily humming away putting 14,000 images into one image. And since it is finished, I'm back to cropping every negative I've ever shot (since 1997)

Frogtown Art Walk

I went to an artwalk in Frogtown last night. There was some good art. I really liked the location also. Right along the LA River

Someone had an Organ that shot fire from the top, Someone else had an old old army truck and lastly there was the gigantic loud smoke machine. This was the test event for my new camera. Unfortunately, I had little to no battery life since I have a penchant for grabbing dead NiMH AAs.

Crazy time. good art though

My thesis show opening is One month from today! eeek! No rest for the crazy. You better be coming to it.

...
Film cameras are so cheap now. This would have been 700 even 6 years ago.
Speaking of cameras, I killed mine in Jamaica (that post to come) so I've got to get another. I'm thinking the Canon A540. If anyone has this or similar let me know what you think of it. I am also thinking of getting the Tmobile Dash. So let me know if you have it and what you think....

There were some great shows at the galleries at school this week. ..
one was this.
Wine glasses stacked all over the gallery. it does make you want to tip one over though.

another was this.
These are all "massagers" in hose activated by motion sensors. They drew circles on the gallery floor.

Great, smart stuff from simple objects.

The last was a curated show. Lots of good work in it. These things were my favorite. Although Jean Robison's Crayfish is pretty great also as are most of her videos.

We had a visiting artist performance by Guillermo Gomez Pena yesterday It was funny and interesting. I thought people saving entire rows up front was a bit rude, but that's the audience, not him...

We had a guest, Dennis Hollingsworth, in our class. Go read his blog about our class. it made me decide to blog more again

I started printing my work for my show. 2 of 6 36x46 inch panels for one piece. It will be 23 feet when done!

Lastly this is your first warning that December 3rd we are having people over to buy my art. Well my old photos and such. I need money to print and hang this show and I like eating so the money has to come from somewhere.
